This guide assumes the flight controller has been flashed with vehicle firmware, completed basic calibration and failsafe configuration. Please refer to the Radiolink Mini Pix Vehicle User Manual for related operations. The following details the installation and parameter tuning for tanks with the CrossFlight flight controller.
Mount the CrossFlight unit with the included foam pad, positioning it as close to the vehicle’s center of gravity as possible. Ensure the arrow marked on the control board points forward.
When using a GPS module with a built-in compass, align the directional indicator of the GPS with the installation orientation of the flight controller.
Connect the signal wire of the left motor driver to RC Output 1, and the signal wire of the right motor driver to RC Output 3.
Note: This flight controller does not support BEC power output. Power the motor drivers via an external power supply, and only connect signal wires to the flight controller.
Set Servo Channel 1 to Left Throttle and Servo Channel 3 to Right Throttle, which control the left and right motors of the tank respectively.
For the CrossFlight flight controller, configure Hold (Stop Mode) and Manual Mode. Mode switching is assigned to PWM Channel 8 by default. You may change the assigned channel using the parameter MODE_CH.
Disconnect all motor driver signal wires before arming if the ESC has not been calibrated yet.
Prior to arming, wait for the flight controller LED to flash blue (for Manual Mode only) or flash green (for all other flight modes). If the LED fails to display the above status, check the LED indicators, arming procedures and troubleshooting sections in the Radiolink Mini Pix Vehicle User Manual.
Make sure the vehicle is in Hold and Manual Mode. Move the throttle stick to the center position, then push the roll stick fully to the right and hold for 2 seconds. A solid blue or green LED indicates successful arming.
Ensure the vehicle is in Hold Mode!!! Move the throttle stick back to center, push the roll stick fully to the left and hold for 2 seconds. A flashing blue or green LED means the vehicle is successfully disarmed.
Before starting calibration, verify all ESC signal wires are securely connected and your remote controller is fully calibrated. Lift the tank to keep its tracks off the ground to prevent unintended movement caused by stick adjustments during the process.
ARMING_REQUIRE = 0: The flight controller will arm automatically right after power-on initialization, no manual operation required.
Once the system boots up and the LED turns blue or green (GPS lock acquired), you will hear beeps from the motors, signifying the ESC has entered calibration mode. Next, pull the throttle stick fully backward for another set of beeps. Finally, return the throttle stick to center to finish calibration.
Calibration steps may vary by ESC model. Refer to your ESC’s official manual for specific instructions. Gently move the throttle stick. If the motors run smoothly, the calibration is complete. If not, repeat the whole process.
If the tank tracks move in the wrong direction when you operate forward/backward commands via the transmitter, adjust the parameters below:
Modify the corresponding parameter for the track that runs in reverse.
After installing and securing the flight controller on the tank, the level indicator may show an unbalanced status even when the tank is placed on flat ground. Misalignment between the red horizontal line and green baseline indicates mounting deviation.
Follow the steps below to fix this issue:
Navigate to the accelerometer calibration page and click Level Calibration. The flight controller LED will flash in three colors during calibration, and return to its normal status once the process is done.
The installation and parameter tuning for the tank are now finished, and the vehicle can be operated normally via remote control. If you encounter any unresolved issues, please consult the Radiolink Mini Pix Vehicle User Manual and official ArduPilot documentation.
